Assembly Directions
Step 1: Prepare the Card Base
- With the Balmy Blue Cardstock card base, burnish the scored fold line with a Bone Folder.
Step 2: Create the Faux Quilted Hexagon Background
- Die cut approximately 12 hexagons from the Beautiful Bokeh DSP in coordinating blue and yellow shades.
- Arranging the hexagons – Refer to the card photo for hexagon placement on the Pecan Pie layer. Make sure the blue hexagon and gray-blue hexagon are centered in the middle of the card with a 1/16” margin all around. Then continue to place the hexagons with 1/16” margins and trimming edges when you reach the outer edge to create the 3/32” margin on the Pecan Pie cardstock layer.
- Once all hexagons are arranged, adhere them in place using small amounts of Multipurpose Liquid Glue.
- When the glue is dry, fun the entire Pecan Pie layer with adhered hexagons through your die-cutting machine inside the Forever Plaid 3D Embossing Folder. Be sure to place the hexagon/Pecan Pie layer inside the folder aligning it with the plaid lines in the embossing folder so all will be straight and square This embossing step enhances the quilted effect.
- Adhere this embossed layer to the Balmy Blue card front.
Step 3: Stamp, Color, and Fussy Cut the Cute Elements
- On one piece of Basic White cardstock, stamp:
- Four cookies using the Perfect Pairs Stamp Set and Early Espresso ink.
- Cow’s head and body from the Cutest Cows Stamp Set in Early Espresso ink.
- Milk carton in Balmy Blue ink.
- Mini cow face on the milk carton using Memento Tuxedo Black Ink.
- Sentiment (“It’s Your Special Day”) on the smallest die-cut hexagon in Memento Tuxedo Black Ink.
- Color your images:
- Use Light Pecan Pie Stampin’ Blends Alcohol Markers for shading cookies and cow spots. Shade with the Dark Marker.
- Color the cookie hearts with the Early Espresso Stampin’ Write Marker.
- Shade the cow’s ears and nose with the Petal Pink Stampin’ Write Marker.
- Use Balmy Blue Stampin’ Write Marker to add stripes to the straw.
- Fussy cut all stamped images, leaving a small white border for a polished look.
Step 4: Assemble the Card
- Adhere the sentiment hexagon flat to the card front with liquid glue referring to photo.
- Glue two cookies directly onto the card front.
- Attach the cow’s head to the body using liquid glue.
- Use both sizes of Dimensionals to raise the milk carton, one cookie, and the cow for added dimension.
- Finish by affixing three copper sequins using the Take Your Pick Tool.
Step 5: Complete the Inside Layer and Envelope
- Inside the Card:
- Adhere the remaining Basic White cardstock layer to the inside.
- Decorate with leftover hexagon pieces for a cohesive look.

- Adhere with Multipurpose Liquid glue, let dry, and trim off the overhanging pieces with Paper Snips.
Tips & Tricks for Easier Cardmaking
- Did you know you can use an edge of a clear stamp block to burnish your scored fold if you don’t own a Bone Folder.
- Have a ruler handy, so you can measure your spacing and margins when adhering your die-cut hexagons to the Pecan Pie layer.
- Perfect Coloring: Use light layers of Stampin’ Blends and blend in circular motions to avoid streaks. Do not press hard on the brush tip end as it will break down quickly.
