Make Valentine Cards Using the Heartfelt Hexagon Punch for Pattern Fun!

Have you ever played with a punch shape to see what interesting patterns you could come with? Well, you should! I’m bringing this punch technique to you, so give it a try. Look at the fun result in the two cards I’m sharing.

How to Make the Cards:

Color Choices: Real Red, Flirty Flamingo, Basic White.

Card bases were made with Real Red or Flirty Flamingo, cut 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″, scored at 4 1/4″. The next layer was the opposite color of the base and cut 4″ x 5 1/4″. The cover Basic White layer was cut 3 3/4″ x 5″ plus a scrap piece for the center stamped image to be punched out. The Basic White inner layer was cut 4″ x 5 1/4″.

Stamp the desired center image first on Basic White cardstock scrap in your choice of ink and punch it out. Use a ruler and pencil to make some light marks on the top, bottom and sides of the Basic White layer to know exactly where the lines intersect to find center, then adhere the greeting shape in the layer center.

Punch some shapes from the Most Adored Designer Series Paper (DSP) and some Real Red and Flirty Flamingo 6″ x 6″ sheets from the Brights and Subtles 6″ x 6″ DSP assortments.

Then lay the punched shapes as you’d like. Once you are happy with the spacing and color combination. Then start adhering the pattern shapes and trim off the overhanging excess when you are all finished. You can use those excess pieces to fill in the four corners as I did on the top card design.

Adhere the patterned layer to the next cardstock layer together, then use Dimensionals to raise that combo layer off the card front.

Stamp your greeting of choice on the inner Basic White layer and decorate as you wish, then adhere.

The Real Red bow came from the 3/8″ Sheer Real Red Ribbon and I used a Meat Fork to tie the bow. Affix with a Glue Dot or two.

You can also use some of the remaining Real Red or Flirty Flamingo DSP from the Brights and Subtles paper sets to decorate the envelope flap.

All done and so cute!

The stamp used on the inner layer is from a 2006 retired set called Warmest Regards. I love the script and it was just the right size to look good in the card.
