This Gate Fold Birthday Card Looks Hard but It Really Isn’t
If you are looking for a WOW Fun Fold, then this Gate Fold Birthday Card layout is it! My instructions below and the additional photos should help you be successful at making this card design with whatever products or occasion you need it for.
If you love the Dainty Flowers Designer Series Paper you may be able to purchase some on a variety of resale sites. It was very popular several years ago during the Sale-a-Bration promotion and it went quick!
I encourage you to read all the steps first because the trickiest part is the three rectangular panels that interlock. Refer to the partially open photo to see how they slide behind the front panel. The trick is gluing everything correctly.

- Prepare Crushed Curry card base, score as noted.
- Adhere Mossy Meadow inner layer to card base.
- Stamp birthday sentiment in Mossy Meadow ink on Basic White layer and adhere to Mossy Meadow inner layer.
- On the 3 pieces of Crushed Curry, adhere the 3 pieces of Dainty Flowers DSP, keeping the top and bottom rectangles separate for now from the middle rectangle.
- Close the card base and affix the top and bottom rectangles to the left 1 ¼” front panel only. Pay attention that the rectangles do not protrude past the left edge of the closed card base. Repeat process with center rectangle affixing on the right 1 ¼” front panel only making sure the right edge of the rectangle lines up with the right edge of the closed card base. The 3 rectangles should fit smoothly side by side when you finish.
- Affix the DSP to the front piece of Mossy Meadow.
- Stamp the sentiment on the Basic White tag piece with Mossy Meadow ink. Affix to the Crushed Curry tag base. Raise the finished tag on the Card front section referring to the photo below.
- Close card base again and affix the front layer/tag combo to the center rectangle only, paying attention to even margins all around.
- Practice opening and closing your finished card to make sure the top and bottom rectangles slide behind the front layer but on top of the right 1 1/4” panel section of the card base.
- Adhere and trim the Designer Series Paper for the Basic White Envelope to match.
