An Easy Christmas Card You can Make Quickly!
I’m sharing today an easy Holiday card you can make quickly if you are in a pinch for a lovely handmade card to go with a gift you are giving. The Latching Double Flap Fun Fold Card is a WOW card but very easy to construct. It’s a fun card to play the patterns on your Designer Series Papers you have in your stash.
Use any holiday Designer Series Papers (DSP) you have on hand, the papers I used are retired from Stampin’ Up!, but I haven’t run out of them yet, so I used them. And because I love the color combination of Real Red, Basic Black and Basic White.
Closed view with decorated envelope too. Cut your envelope flap paper 2 1/2″ x 6″, glue to exterior flap and trim off excess. I used 3 retired glitter brads as my closing mechanism for this card.
Open view to help see how it goes together. You can see the brads on the inside (silly me, I know better!) I recommend you attach the brads before you apply the inner layer of DSP.
Latching Double Flap Fold Card: supplies for 1 card
I sheet of 8 ½” x 11” cardstock makes the 2 needed pieces when cut lengthwise at 3”,
1st piece for Card base – 5 ½” x 9 ¼” (which means cut 1 ¾” off of 11” length and you’ll have 9 ¼”)
2nd piece for smaller card is cut at 3” x 6”, then score at 3”
On Card base piece of 5 ½” x 9 ¼” score at 3 ½” and 7 ¾” (you can turn card base 180 degrees and score at 1 ½’ if you’d rather)]
Larger card – 2 coordinating DSP pieces 3 ¼” x 5 ¼”
Larger card – 2 coordinating DSP pieces 1 ¼” x 5 ¼”
Basic White Inner Card Layer if needed 4” x 5 ¼”
Smaller card – 2 coordinating DSP pieces 2 ¾” square and 2 3/4″ square of Basic White Cardstock
Your choice of Tag that’s no larger than 2 ½” and your choice of embellishments to match your color combination.
Inside views to help you assemble this card.
Be adventuresome and try different closing types, like a ribbon to wrap around, or just one brad, or a mini piece of velcro. Have fun with this idea!
