A Bridge Fun Fold Card Design Makes A Thoughtful Sympathy Card!

Even though we never like our family or friends passing away, one way to honor their life is to make a handmade card to give their loved ones filled with a memory or two. A Bridge Fun Fold design is an easy layout because you are working with rectangles and layers. This fun fold stands on it own nicely. However when you combine it with the Countryside Inn Designer Series Paper, a lovely Sympathy Card is created!

Stampin’ Up! is doing something they have never done before! They are carrying over this Countryside Inn Designer Series Paper into the 24-25 Annual Catalog. I personally am so happy they are doing this. More beautiful cards to make!

Above – Standing upright with the bridge and middle section closed together.  Color scheme is Boho Blue and Night of Navy with a little Basic White.

Above – When you use the Heartfelt Hexagon Bundle (Heartfelt Hexagon Photopolymer Stamp Set and the Heartfelt Hexagon Punch) you can easy mount a lovely tag across the bridge section in just a couple steps. Notice on the Stamp Set image below in the lower left corner there is a border stamp. Here’s a Hint for you! Stamp that frame image first, then stamp your sympathy stamp inside. Then it is easy to fussy cut just on the inside of the inner border, so you have two sizes of hexagons. One punched and one fussy cut to sit inside the punched shape. Pretty cool!

Be sure to include a matching envelope with a decorated flap. (Disclaimer – I know my Night of Navy envelope flap doesn’t look like it matches the card at all, but it really did. Amateur photographer here!)

Cutting The Paper

• Boho Blue Card Base 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″, scored at 4 1/4″ – then follow cutting the left and right sections from diagram above.
• Boho  Blue Bridge piece is 1 1/4″ x 5 1/2″
• Countryside Inn Designer Series Paper (DSP) refer to photos for proper paper to use from DSP pack.
  • Left and Right Sides – 4 pieces 1″ x 4″
  • Center Section – 2 pieces 2 3/4″ x 4″
  • Bridge 1″ x 5 1/4″
  • Left and Right Sides Top Layer – 4 pieces 3/4″ x 3 3/4″
  • Center Front Section 2 1/2″ x 3 3/4″
• Basic White for Inner Layer 2 1/2″ x 3 3/4″
• For Tag – Night of Navy punched piece  3″ square
• For Tag – Basic White fussy cut piece 3″ square

In Closing

Even though the Countryside Inn Designer Series Paper has some “frilly” designs on it, I feel it can easily be used as a masculine sympathy card like the one I’ve shared here. I recommend that you create several of these Sympathy Bridge Fun Fold Cards to have on hand, just in case you need one to give.
